By the Matter is a software platform operated by Mairit, Inc. Mairit is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. An independent attorney provides any legal review you order. Creating an account or connecting an assistant does not hire an attorney or authorize Mairit to share your matter with one. You may connect a supported AI assistant to your account. The connection lets the assistant request the account information and actions shown on the connection approval screen, subject to the permissions you approve. You can disconnect it from your account. Connecting an assistant does not let it approve a brief, cancel a request, or make another decision that requires your own confirmation. Your confirmation to share a brief. When you personally confirm a brief through the Mairit confirmation button presented in an assistant conversation, you authorize Mairit to share the confirmed brief and the contact details needed for that request with an independent attorney so that the attorney can consider or carry out the requested review. Your assistant's message alone is not your confirmation. The screen must identify what you are confirming before you tap it. You are responsible for providing information and documents you have the right to submit. Fees, payment holds, refunds, the attorney's engagement, review deadlines, and access to completed work need their own applicable terms and screens. These Terms do not establish those rules.
